NISIOISIN's ongoing light novel series, published by Kodansha since Bakemonogatari in November 2006, and its long-running anime adaptation by Shaft, which began with the Bakemonogatari television series on July 3, 2009, and has continued across numerous sequels, films, and specials, including the Kizumonogatari prequel trilogy, collectively branded the Monogatari series. High schooler Koyomi Araragi, left partially vampiric after an attack, becomes entangled with a succession of girls afflicted by "oddities," supernatural apparitions rooted in Japanese folklore, including bookish class president Tsubasa Hanekawa, delinquent basketball star Suruga Kanbaru, and shrine-obsessed classmate Nadeko Sengoku.
