Rihanna’s Watches in “Rude Boy”

Rihanna wears several watches linked together in Rude Boy. A pink square, a rounded black case and white straps are immediately apparent in the raised-wrist shots. The watches face different directions around her wrist, exposing their case profiles and connecting straps.

Something About Rocks identifies five models: three Baby-Gs and two G-Shock Minis. The family names fit the contrasting case shapes. The complete references are less secure, especially where the video alters their colors.

Rihanna’s raised wrist carries a connected group of pink, black and white watches in a mirrored composition.

The linked straps are visible between the cases. Several watches form one continuous accessory.

Three Baby-G squares

The published identifications are the white Casio Baby-G BG5601SW-7, pink Casio Baby-G BG5601-4 and yellow Casio Baby-G BG5602-9. Watch-ID gives the same three candidates. They preserve the visual distinction between the small square cases and the more rounded G-Shock Minis beside them.

The yellow watch has a useful dated comparison. Ariel Adams reviewed the BG5602-9 on 11 December 2009, before the 2010 video. That contemporary review establishes that the model preceded the video, despite later dates in archive listings. It supports the chronology of the proposed match; the wrist image still leaves the exact variant uncertain.

The pink BG5601-4 remains a closest-model identification. Its square face and pink housing fit the published account, but the footage does not establish the complete reference. The white model is likewise a candidate, with its suffix unconfirmed. The video shifts color and contrast so aggressively that a processed frame is a poor substitute for a period catalog photograph.

The two Minis change the outline

The other published candidates are the black Casio G-Shock Mini GMN550-1B and white Casio G-Shock Mini GMN691-7B. Something About Rocks describes the latter with a pink dial and green LCD. Those contrasting display colors are more specific than simply calling it another white Casio.

The rounder cases interrupt the sequence of Baby-G squares. The connecting straps also remain part of the design: this is visibly a group of complete watches joined together, rather than several bare watch heads mounted on a conventional bracelet. Their different orientations leave no single dial facing forward. The cluster shows the side profiles and connecting straps as well as the faces.
