Melanie Schuster's Arabesque romance follows Ceylon Simmons, a singer whose closest friends Bennie and Clay Deveraux are producing the movie she is making and whose brother Duane Anthony Carter has picked her accounts clean and gone to the Cayman Islands. Clay's brother Martin Mercier Deveraux of The Deveraux Group looks after her at the family's cottage on St. Simons Island, sets his associate Titus on Duane's trail and later surprises her at the stage door of her New York theater. Corum watch: After one of her best performances, still trading remarks with the cast at the stage door, Ceylon is startled by a shadow in the alley that turns out to be Martin, come unannounced because he guessed she would not sleep after what they learned about her brother. In minutes they are in her suite at the Plaza, and she takes him in: dark summer-weight slacks, a cotton sweater with the sleeves pushed up, tanned skin, short hair, and as his only jewelry his Corum watch. The maker is named; the model is not.
