The Guardian of the Amulets (2003)

Jessica S. Andersen's novel, published in Five Star's First Edition Expressions series in 2003, is set on the New Hampshire coast, where a woman who hides jewels inside the candles she makes in a two-room shop is pursued by scarred men with knives and guarded by a lion cub named Thor. Michael Finch, whose wife Christine has been hiding with their daughter Kayla, is drawn into her flight across the rocks and into the Atlantic. (Open Library)

Victorinox Swiss Army (unidentified model): Trapped at the end of a jetty by three armed men who demand the jewellery, while Christine slips into the water behind him, Michael takes a quick inventory of what he is wearing to stall them: a ten-year-old Swiss Army watch, the silver and turquoise money clip Chrissy gave him for his high-school graduation, and his wedding band. He is about to leap on them when the lion attacks and he is pulled into the riptide. The text says only "Swiss Army watch".
