Jerry Ahern's novel, copyright Jerry and Sharon Ahern, was published by Dell in 1988 as the second book of The Defender. The Front for the Liberation of North America has brought revolution to the United States, and David Holden, once a policeman and now a fighter with the Patriots resistance cell, carries on after the death of its leader, Rufus Burroughs, with Rosie Shepherd at his side, while a man calling himself Aegis hires a professional killer to kill the Patriots' new leader. Watches
- Rolex Sea-Dweller
- Leading Rosie Shepherd and Janet Harrison north through the city's storm drains, Holden strips off his coat, and in the dark he can easily read the luminous black face of the Rolex Sea-Dweller on his left wrist. The text names the model and gives no reference.

- Rolex watch
- The professional killer Aegis hires, who gives his code name as Warlock, tells Aegis on a run that he wears a Rolex, drives a Jaguar and uses customized tools (p. 16). Only the Rolex was true: the Jaguar had too much flash and his guns are bought, not customized. He glances at it as a Justice Department man walks into a coffee shop at precisely the appointed hour (p. 37), and again on p. 97. The maker is named; the model is not.
