George Daniels (1926–2011) was the English watchmaker who invented the co-axial escapement, the lubrication-free design Omega has built into its highest-grade movements since 1999, and built complete watches by hand, movement, case and dial included, at his Isle of Man workshop, 27 in his career. His Anniversary series of 35, made with his sole apprentice Roger W. Smith, carried the name into wristwatches sold under the DANIELS cartouche. (Daniels London; A Collected Man)
