Osamu Tezuka's medical drama manga, serialized in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion from 1973, follows Black Jack, an unlicensed surgeon of legendary skill who performs secret operations, charging the wealthy exorbitant fees to fund treating the poor for free.
