Black Panther (T'Challa) is a superhero created by writer/editor Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby for Marvel Comics, first appearing in Fantastic Four #52, cover-dated July 1966. King and protector of the technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda, he draws enhanced abilities from a mystical heart-shaped herb alongside vibranium-based technology and rigorous combat training, and has since starred in his own comic book series and been adapted across films, television series, and games, including Chadwick Boseman's Marvel Cinematic Universe films beginning with Captain America: Civil War (2016).
