Richard Linklater's 2006 adaptation of Philip K. Dick's novel, animated by interpolated rotoscoping over live-action footage, follows undercover narcotics officer Bob Arctor, played by Keanu Reeves, as Substance D dissolves his identity, with Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson, Winona Ryder and Rory Cochrane as the addicts and dealers around him. Fossil Defender

Worn by Keanu Reeves as Bob Arctor. Propstore's Los Angeles March 2024 live auction (lot 1509) sold Arctor's watch and ring, the watch worn on the freeway drive with Barris and Luckman when their car breaks down on the way to San Diego: "a brown leather and metal Fossil Defender watch labeled '04 Keanu' on the backside". The film is rotoscoped over live-action footage, so the animated frame could never resolve a model; the identification rests on the lot, which names the Defender line but no style number. Fossil sold Defender lines from 1995 and again from 1999, and the lot does not say which generation this is. (Propstore)
