A Soldier's Sweetheart

Thomas Michael Donnelly's television film adapting Tim O'Brien's short story "Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong," from his 1990 collection The Things They Carried. In 1967, medic Rat Kiley is stationed with a small unit at a remote outpost in Vietnam when a fellow soldier's girlfriend is smuggled in for a visit and, over weeks, is drawn further and further into the war until she vanishes into the jungle herself.
