Apparel Designer (アパレル・デザイナー) is a 2020 Japanese drama directed by Ryo Nakajima, starring Masanobu Takashima in his first film lead in 26 years as Yuji Fujimura, a once-celebrated designer who broke with the old apparel house HIRAKATA years earlier after clashing with its president. Struggling under fast-fashion competition and a boardroom split between president Keisuke Hirakata (Masahiko Nishimura) and his brother, executive Yusuke Hirakata (Yasuyuki Maekawa), the company recalls Fujimura to launch a new line, pairing him with patternmaker Kayo Kaseda (Akane Hotta) and heel craftsman Yuriko Kishimoto (Miyu Nishimura). Reiko Takashima plays HIRAKATA's press liaison in a special appearance, alongside Tomoko Ikuta as a fashion-magazine editor-in-chief.
