Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

Avatar: The Way of Water

James Cameron's 2022 sequel finds Jake Sully and Neytiri raising a family among the reef-dwelling Metkayina when the RDA returns to Pandora, led by recombinants, Na'vi-scale soldier bodies imprinted with the memories of dead humans, Colonel Quaritch's among them. The production dressed its three-meter recombinant squad in scaled-up human military kit, wristwatches included, which is how a $99 G-Shock came to be digitally rendered, enlarged to fit a recombinant wrist, on more than one blue arm. Watches

Casio G-Shock GA-700UC-3A
Worn by Stephen Lang as Miles Quaritch. The recombinant Quaritch wakes in a Na'vi-scale body carrying his human habits, and one of them is a watch: the olive-drab G-Shock GA-700UC-3A from Casio's August 2017 Utility Color series, reproduced as a CG asset scaled to a roughly three-meter soldier and clearly visible on his left wrist in the third act's boat scenes (G-Central). The choice runs true to the character: in the 2009 film the human Quaritch wore a Casio Pathfinder, and the RDA's kit logic favors exactly this sort of sub-$100 issue-grade ana-digi with a five-year battery. A WatchUseek spotting thread and WatchReel independently name the same reference, and the olive colorway matches the frames. (WatchUseek, WatchReel)

Casio G-Shock GA-700UC-3A
Worn by Alicia Vela-Bailey as Zdinarsik. The same olive GA-700UC-3A appears on Zdinarsik, "Z-Dog," the recombinant squad member played by stuntwoman Alicia Vela-Bailey, who also doubled Zoe Saldana on the production. Worn identically across the squad's ranks, the watch reads as uniform issue rather than personal choice, the RDA outfitting its rebuilt soldiers from one supply crate; it sits plainly on her left wrist, scaled to the recombinant body, in the Bridgehead interior scenes. The reference matches the community identification of the squad's watches rather than a separate sighting of a second model. (WatchReel, WatchUseek)
