A fashion photographer in Swinging London believes he has unwittingly captured a murder on film after photographing a couple in a park, and obsessively enlarges the images to find proof. (Wikipedia) Directed by Michelangelo Antonioni in his first English-language feature, the film stars David Hemmings as the photographer Thomas and Vanessa Redgrave as Jane, the woman he photographs; MGM released it December 18, 1966.

BAMF Style identifies the watch Jane wears on a black leather band over the outside of her shirt cuff as a stainless Rolex Submariner ref. 5513, in the classic configuration with a stainless case and black bezel. (BAMF Style) Montres de Luxe independently identifies it as a steel Submariner with an acrylic "plexi" crystal, consistent with the 5513, and notes the choice as unusual for a woman to wear a men's dive watch on screen in 1966. (Montres de Luxe) Bonhams' Fine Watches sale (London, New Bond Street, 21 June 2023) sold the screen watch itself as lot 33: a Submariner 5513, case back stamped III.65 and no. 1248836, its black dial since replaced by Rolex in service, bought for £90 from Asprey's Bond Street store and "worn by Vanessa Redgrave throughout the production of the film, where it can be seen in the majority of her on screen scenes". The film's set construction manager bought it from the production company after shooting and kept it for more than fifty years; it sold for £25,600 with premium. (Bonhams lot 33)
