The Rolex Submariner 5513 is the no-date Submariner Rolex built from 1962 to 1989, the longest run of any reference in the line and the last Rolex diver to wear an acrylic crystal. A 40 mm steel case, black aluminium bezel and 200-metre rating sit under a two-line dial left uncluttered by a date, and the calibre 1520 inside it dispenses with the chronometer certification of the dated 1680 alongside it — the plainer, tougher end of the range. Across twenty-seven years the dial passed from glossy gilt to matte to applied white-gold markers, and the crystal from domed acrylic to a flatter profile in the early 1980s, so the reference dates itself to a collector while reading, on screen, simply as a diver.
