Pierre Richard directs and stars in this French comedy of mistaken identity. Pierre Renaud, the uncredited ghostwriter behind novelist Georges Vallier's plays, is mistaken at a reception for Vallier himself by the vain Italian film star Aldo Barazzutti, who invites him to Tunisia to help write a screenplay; Barazzutti's real motive is fleeing his wife to join his mistress.
