Watches
- TAG Heuer 3000 Professional 232.206
- Worn by Bruce Willis as John McClane. McClane wears the same watch he wore at Nakatomi and in the same way, turned inward on his right wrist so the crystal faces his forearm while he holds a weapon. The reference is settled by the object rather than by a spotting: Propstore sold the screen-worn piece from prop master Mike Papac's collection as a stainless TAG Heuer 3000 Professional Quartz chronograph on a slim grey leather band, and the caseback in the lot photography is engraved "WATERRESISTANT 200 METERS TESTED . STAINLESS STEEL . 232.206 . SWISS MADE". It also settles what the "TAG Heuer 2000" in secondary accounts of this film refers to, because the film puts TAG Heuers on the other side too: Colonel Stuart and his men wear 2000-series watches, and those are the watches it describes, not McClane's. A dealer specialising in the reference has since nicknamed 232.206 "the John McClane" after it. (Propstore; DC Vintage Watches)
- TAG Heuer 2000 Professional
- Worn by William Sadler as Colonel Stuart. Stuart's introduction gives the watch a whole scene to itself: naked in a hotel room running through a kata, he wears nothing but a heavy gold ring and a gold watch on a gold link bracelet, and the camera holds on the hand. The Die Hard Wiki reads it as a TAG Heuer 2000 in gold, reference 264.006, and says Stuart and his men all wear a version of the 2000 and synchronise them to the second, which the film bears out. Nothing in the frame carries that far: the case is round and gold and the bracelet is a multi-link, and no dial text, subdial or bezel marking survives the firelight, so the appearance is filed to the series rather than to a reference. The men's own watches are separately documented as the steel ref. 273.306/1 chronograph. (Die Hard Wiki)
- TAG Heuer 2000 Professional 273.306/1
- Stuart's soldiers all wear the same watch and synchronise them to time the assault on Dulles, which is why a TAG Heuer 2000 turns up so often in accounts of this film. Propstore sold one of them out of prop master Mike Papac's collection and named the reference: a steel TAG Heuer 2000 Professional 273.306/1 quartz chronograph with a date and a tachymetre scale, on a bracelet with black-coated links.
