The Rolex Day-Date is the flagship Rolex introduced in 1956, the first series wristwatch to spell the day of the week in full beside the date. (Rolex) Built only in gold or platinum and usually worn on the semi-circular three-piece-link bracelet whose association with Eisenhower- and Johnson-era wearers earned the "President" name, the line runs from acrylic-crystal 36 mm references through today's 36 and 40 mm generations; no single reference covers its screen record, and gold-toned faux Presidents are a recurring costume prop in their own right. The pictured example is a modern yellow-gold Day-Date 40 228238. (Bob's Watches)
