Troubling questions arise after airline pilot Whip Whitaker makes a miracle landing after a mid-air catastrophe. (IMDb) Directed by Robert Zemeckis from a screenplay by John Gatins, the drama premiered at the New York Film Festival on 14 October 2012 and was released by Paramount Pictures on 2 November. Denzel Washington plays the captain whose heroism unravels once the investigation establishes he was intoxicated in the cockpit, with Don Cheadle as his lawyer Hugh Lang, Kelly Reilly as Nicole, Bruce Greenwood as union representative Charlie Anderson and John Goodman as Harling Mays; it drew Academy Award nominations for Washington and for Gatins's original screenplay.
