(IMDb) Directed by Philip Martin and written by Peter Moffat, the BBC Two television film first aired on 13 April 2004 and follows Hawking from his 21st birthday through his doctoral work at Cambridge and the onset of motor neurone disease, cutting to Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson's parallel discovery of the cosmic microwave background.
