Walt Disney's cartoon mouse, created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks and first appearing in the synchronized-sound short Steamboat Willie (1928), distributed in its earliest run by Celebrity Productions. Mickey Mouse went on to star in hundreds of theatrical shorts, television series, and feature-film segments over the following century, including a starring turn as the Sorcerer's Apprentice in Fantasia.
