Bill Murray and Howard Franklin's only directorial credit, adapted by Franklin from Jay Cronley's novel. Costumed as a clown, Grimm (Bill Murray) robs a Manhattan bank with his girlfriend Phyllis (Geena Davis) and best friend Loomis (Randy Quaid), then discovers that escaping New York City is the harder half of the job. Audemars Piguet Perpetual Calendar
Worn by Bill Murray as Grimm. In the bank vault, a hostage offers Grimm an Audemars Piguet perpetual calendar, described on screen as showing "the day, date, month and the moon on it," worth $12,000 and appreciating in value daily; Grimm counters with $300 cash and his own Timex flexiband. Deployant reports that co-director Howard Franklin, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, said the watch was actually Bill Murray's own: Murray had it written into the script because he was frustrated at having to remove it and pay Audemars Piguet roughly $150 every time a film required him to go without it for months. The scene is the watch's only on-screen appearance; no reference or case metal is given. (Deployant)
