Directed by Tim Story from a script by Kenya Barris and Alex Barnow, this legacy sequel brings together three generations of the Shaft family: FBI cybercrime analyst John "JJ" Shaft Jr. (Jessie T. Usher) reluctantly enlists his estranged father, private investigator John Shaft II (Samuel L. Jackson), to investigate a childhood friend's death, eventually pulling in the original John Shaft (Richard Roundtree) as well.
