Space Cowboys (2000)

From IMWDb
Space Cowboys

Space Cowboys, directed by and starring Clint Eastwood, was released by Warner Bros. Pictures in August 2000. Four Air Force test pilots passed over for the astronaut corps in 1958 are recalled forty years later, because the obsolete guidance system aboard a failing Soviet satellite is one only Eastwood's Frank Corvin knows. Tommy Lee Jones plays William "Hawk" Hawkins, alongside Donald Sutherland and James Garner. (IMDb)

Watches

Breitling Navitimer
Worn by Tommy Lee Jones as William "Hawk" Hawkins. Montres de Luxe identifies Hawkins's watch as a Breitling Old Navitimer, the automatic revival Breitling sold through the 1990s: the 1952 slide-rule architecture and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association wings, with a Valjoux 7750 in place of the original manual Venus 178. (Montres de Luxe) The source's own body text misattributes the film to Against All Odds while its headline and slug both name Space Cowboys, which the 2000 date and Eastwood's direction confirm; the year here follows the film. The watch fits a character defined entirely by the flying career he was denied, since the Navitimer's circular slide rule is the instrument a pilot of Hawkins's generation actually worked fuel burn and climb rate on. No reference is established, so the row links the line.
