The Breitling Navitimer is the pilot's chronograph Breitling introduced in 1952, built around a circular slide rule the mathematician Marcel Robert laid out so the wearer could work fuel burn, climb rate and unit conversion on the bezel itself, its scales carrying statute miles, kilometres and nautical miles. The reference 806 ran the manual-wind Venus 178, a column-wheel chronograph, and wore the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association wings at twelve under the partnership that made it that association's watch. An automatic Navitimer waited until 1969, when the Calibre 11 stacked a Dubois-Dépraz chronograph module onto a Buren micro-rotor. (Chrono24)
