The Courier

Dominic Cooke's Cold War thriller, based on the true story of British businessman Greville Wynne. Recruited by MI6 and the CIA in 1960 to make contact with GRU colonel Oleg Penkovsky, an unassuming salesman becomes the courier for intelligence that helps defuse the Cuban Missile Crisis, at severe personal cost. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Wynne, alongside Merab Ninidze as Penkovsky and Rachel Brosnahan. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020 and released theatrically in 2021.
