More actions

Kang Yoon-sung wrote and directed this South Korean crime action film (Korean: 범죄도시, literally "Crime City"), inspired by the real 2007 gang conflict remembered as the Heuksapa Incident. Detective Lieutenant Ma Seok-do (Ma Dong-seok) of Seoul's Geumbong Police works to hold the peace between rival Chinese-Korean gangs in the Garibong district when Jang Chen, a newly arrived loan shark, seizes territory with extreme violence and forces a citywide manhunt. The film opened October 3, 2017, grossed roughly $53 million domestically, and became the first installment of the Crime City franchise, continued internationally as The Roundup (2022), The Roundup: No Way Out (2023), and The Roundup: Punishment (2024).
