The Shallows (2016)

From IMWDb
The Shallows

A mere 200 yards from shore, surfer Nancy is attacked by a great white shark, with her short journey to safety becoming the ultimate contest of wills. (IMDb) Jaume Collet-Serra directed the 2016 survival thriller from a script by Anthony Jaswinski, with Blake Lively carrying almost the whole picture alone as medical student Nancy Adams, stranded on a rock and a marker buoy off a secluded Mexican beach her late mother once surfed. Collet-Serra shot in New South Wales and Queensland and kept the look deliberately unstylised, building the shark entirely in computer graphics; Columbia Pictures released the film on 24 June 2016 and it took more than $119 million against a budget in the teens of millions. Casio Baby-G BG169R-8
Worn by Blake Lively as Nancy Adams. Nancy Adams wears the Baby-G throughout her time in the water, and the film promotes it from costume to plot device: she uses the countdown timer to work out how long the shark takes to circle back, and the electroluminescent backlight does duty once the light goes. The dial the camera shows is not quite the real thing: G-Central notes that the tide-chart display seen on screen belongs to the BGD-180, a feature the BG169R-8 does not have. (G-Central)
