Omega Seamaster Professional 300M 2531.80

Worn by Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Bond's first mechanical Seamaster: the blue wave dial stays, but the quartz 2541.80 of GoldenEye gives way to the chronometer-certified automatic 2531.80, tracking the Swiss industry's swing back to mechanical movements. Q-branch's contribution this time is a detonator: Bond uses the watch to set off a hand grenade. Christie's sold the screen-worn example in 2001, its catalogue describing the Saigon exchange in which Wai Lin notes the improvements Q-branch has made. (Omega; Bond Lifestyle; Christie's) Montres de Luxe independently identifies the watch as an Omega Seamaster Professional and its grenade-detonator gadget, used against media mogul Elliot Carver's stealth ship to expose it to radar, and notes that Omega made Brosnan its ambassador at the film's launch. (Montres de Luxe) Propstore's London Winter 2025 live auction (December 2025) added two production pieces to the record: a movement-less prop Seamaster Diver 300M, serial 1503825 and tagged 67, "one of two prop watches from the film" displayed at a Jaeger publicity event on Regent Street and gifted to an employee in 2003; and a nonfunctional 2531.80, in its Omega box, that the productions of this film, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day "used to make and cast additional watches for SFX shots", never itself seen on screen. Both corroborate the 2531.80 without adding a frame. (Propstore; Propstore) Watches of Espionage's Caleb Daniels notes that the 2531.80.00 "first appeared with an automatic movement in 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies" and that the film reportedly covered its whole product budget with brand tie-ins.
