From IMWDb
U Turn

U Turn, directed by Oliver Stone from John Ridley's adaptation of his own novel, was released by TriStar Pictures in October 1997. Sean Penn plays Bobby Cooper, a gambler whose car dies outside the Arizona town of Superior while he is carrying money he owes to Russian creditors, leaving him at the mercy of Billy Bob Thornton's mechanic Darrell, Nick Nolte's Jake McKenna, and Jennifer Lopez's Grace, with Joaquin Phoenix, Claire Danes, and Jon Voight in support. Watches

Movado Museum
Worn by Sean Penn as Bobby Cooper. One of the few screen watches identified by the film itself rather than by a spotter. Out of cash, Bobby offers the watch against the repair bill: "My Movado is worth $7,800. That will cover the costs." Darrell answers "There are no numbers," Bobby explains "That's why it's expensive, it's gold," and Darrell gives the verdict, "No day, no date. To me it's crap," before producing his own $3.75 plastic quartz with a calculator. The exchange identifies the piece precisely, because a bare dial with no numerals is the whole point of Nathan George Horwitt's 1947 Museum design, whose single dot at twelve stands for the sun at noon. Montres de Luxe transcribes the dialogue and describes a round gold Movado on a crocodile strap. (Montres de Luxe) Stone uses it as a class joke that runs both ways: the object's value is invisible to the man being asked to accept it, and its owner cannot explain the value except by naming the metal.
