Under Fire (1983)

From IMWDb
Under Fire

Roger Spottiswoode's political thriller, set in Nicaragua during the 1979 collapse of the Somoza regime. Nick Nolte plays Russell Price, an American photojournalist covering the civil war who slides from documenting the Sandinista rebellion to acting for it: asked to fake a photograph that will conceal the death of the rebels' commander, he agrees, and the forged frame forces a reckoning with what a war correspondent owes the truth. Gene Hackman and Joanna Cassidy play the reporters working beside him. (IMDb)

Breitling Navitimer
Worn by Nick Nolte as Russell Price. Montres de Luxe names Price's watch a Breitling Navitimer and goes no further: no reference, dial, or bracelet detail, which leaves the model secure and the variant open. That matters here, because by 1979 the Navitimer covered both hand-wound descendants of the 1952 slide-rule chronograph and the automatic Calibre 11 generation that arrived at the end of the 1960s. The circular slide rule itself, laid out to work fuel burn, ground speed, and unit conversion on the bezel, is working equipment for a man chartering light aircraft between airstrips and front lines.
