Struggling singer-songwriter Jack Malik wakes up after a freak accident during a global blackout to discover that he is the only person who remembers the Beatles ever existed, and begins performing their songs as his own. Danny Boyle directed from a Richard Curtis screenplay, with Himesh Patel as Jack opposite Lily James as his manager and childhood friend Ellie Appleton; Ed Sheeran appears as himself, mentoring Jack and inviting him to open for him on tour.
