I'm Bad is a 1987 music video by LL Cool J for the first single from his second album Bigger and Deffer, released by Def Jam Recordings on 13 June 1987 and produced by LL with the L.A. Posse over a sample of the S.W.A.T. theme. The video, remastered in HD on LL's official channel, cuts between LL rapping in a red tracksuit and Kangol in a warehouse and a street storyline of cops, drug dealers and a kidnapped girl. The FADER, in its Bezel-assisted history of luxury watches in hip-hop videos, lists the watch for I'm Bad as a Gruen Gold Nugget, writing that LL "wore jewelry fit for his kingly status" in the video and that "complimenting the gold chains was an equally chunky Gruen Gold Nugget, first seen in a 1987 press photo taken by Janette Beckman"; Bezel's Vince De La Cerna adds that the nugget's natural, rocky look ran across brands of the era. In the official upload LL's wrists stay under his tracksuit sleeves or out of frame for most of the runtime, and the closest view, a textured gold band on his left wrist as he crosses his arms at about 4:13, is too brief and dark to show the watch head, so the identification rests on The FADER's reading of the video and the Beckman photograph.
