The Gruen Gold Nugget is a 1980s quartz watch whose gold-toned case surround and integrated bracelet are cast in the lumpy texture of gold-nugget jewelry. A Berner's Auction Gallery example sold in April 2022 has a champagne dial signed Gruen Precision and Diamond Quartz, one diamond at 12, a Japanese quartz movement behind a stainless steel back and base-metal bezel, and a caseback reading "Gruen since 1874". By then Gruen was a name rather than a manufacture: the Cincinnati company was broken up in 1958, its Swiss plant closed in 1977, and the trademark now belongs to MZ Berger.
