Doctor-Y: Surgeon Hideki Kaji (ドクターY～外科医・加地秀樹～) is the seventh annual installment of TV Asahi's Doctor-X spinoff franchise, a single special that aired 30 November 2024 to lead into Doctor-X: The Movie Finals theatrical release six days later. Masanobu Katsumura returns as laparoscopic surgeon Hideki Kaji, who falls into gambling debt and is offered a bailout by Ittoku Kishibe's Akira Kanbara, the physician-placement office chief, in exchange for stopping talented but arrogant medical student Ren Higashimura (Daigo Nishihata) from becoming a doctor. Kenichi Endo reprises recurring surgeon Ebina, whose student-doctor daughter Aya (Nozomi Tomita) falls for Higashimura, and Mitsuhiro Oikawa plays Higashimura's estranged father Eigo Kusuda. (TMDB)
