Up-and-coming CIA analyst, Jack Ryan, is thrust into dangerous field assignments. Created by Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland for Amazon Prime Video and premiering in 2018, the series draws on Tom Clancy's novels but builds original cases, opening with a desk analyst in the Terror, Finance and Arms Division whose paper trail forces him out from behind the desk and into the field. John Krasinski plays Ryan opposite Wendell Pierce as his station chief James Greer, and the show dresses Ryan in field-grade tool watches rather than status pieces. (IMDb; Wikipedia)
Watches
- Hamilton Khaki Field Auto Chrono
- Worn by John Krasinski as Jack Ryan. Ryan's watch through the first two seasons is the Hamilton Khaki Field Auto Chrono, reference H71626735: a 42mm black-PVD field chronograph on rubber, running Hamilton's H-21 automatic. It is a deliberately unshowy choice for a CIA analyst (black on black, legible, nothing on the wrist to remember him by), and it became the most-asked-about watch of the show's early run. (Worn & Wound) Montres de Luxe identifies the same watch, in steel with a black finish, days before the season one premiere, and independently identifies the black-PVD Hamilton Khaki Field Auto Chrono again as visible throughout season two's episodes. (Montres de Luxe, 2018 (season one); Montres de Luxe, 2019 (season two))
- Casio W-735H
- Worn by John Krasinski as Jack Ryan. In field sequences Ryan also wears a black resin digital Casio, identified by the spotting record as the W-735H, the Illuminator model whose vibration alarm can run silent - a sensible spec for an analyst working ground operations. The identification is likely rather than confirmed: the frames show a black Casio digital consistent with the W-735H's large resin case, but no shot resolves the module text, and the record's own labelling wavers, calling the watch a G-Shock (which the W-735H is not) and citing both black colorways (-1AV and -1BV). No other spotting source has yet corroborated the sighting. (WatchReel)
- Suunto Quest
- Worn by Wendell Pierce as James Greer. James Greer wears the digital Suunto Quest SS018153000. (Watch-ID)
- Vortic Military Edition
- Worn by John Krasinski as Jack Ryan. For the fourth and final season Ryan moves to a Vortic Military Edition, a Colorado-made wristwatch built around a salvaged American pocket-watch movement and dial: the Military Edition series uses movements originally supplied to the US Army Air Corps, and Vortic releases it each Veterans Day. Krasinski reportedly picked it up after seeing the same watch on co-star Michael Kelly's wrist, so the wardrobe change came from the cast rather than a placement deal. (Gear Patrol)
- Vortic Military Edition
- Worn by Michael Kelly as Mike November. Kelly wore the Vortic before Krasinski did, and it is his wrist that put the watch on the show. Christie's sold his prop-worn example in 2024, describing it as worn across the third and fourth seasons and featured in dozens of action scenes, with wear marks on the case and sweat staining on the strap, accompanied by a certificate from the series' prop master. The example is built on a Hamilton Master Navigator movement in a PVD-coated case. (Christie's)
- Hamilton X-Wind
- Worn by Wendell Pierce as James Greer. Montres de Luxe identifies a second Greer watch as a Hamilton X-Wind. (Montres de Luxe)Scene image neededSubmit a scene still!
