New Amsterdam is an NBC medical drama developed by David Schulner, drawing on Dr. Eric Manheimer's memoir Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital. Ryan Eggold stars as Dr. Max Goodwin, the idealistic new medical director of the country's oldest public hospital, who sets out to tear up its bureaucracy one department at a time. Daniel Dae Kim joins the ensemble as Dr. Cassian Shin, an attending trauma surgeon. The series premiered on 25 September 2018 and ran five seasons to its two-hour series finale on 17 January 2023.
