An American neo-noir psychological thriller miniseries created, written and directed by Steven Zaillian, adapting Patricia Highsmith's 1955 novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. (Wikipedia) Tom Ripley, a small-time New York con man scraping by in the early 1960s, is hired by a wealthy shipping magnate to travel to Italy and persuade his idle son to return home; the assignment instead draws Ripley into deception, fraud and murder. Shot entirely in black and white, the eight-episode limited series stars Andrew Scott as Ripley alongside Dakota Fanning and Johnny Flynn, and premiered on Netflix on 4 April 2024 after an earlier planned run at Showtime.
