The Name of the Game Is a Kidnapping (ゲームの名は誘拐) is a 2024 Japanese thriller that aired as WOWOW's four-episode Renzoku Drama W series, adapted from Keigo Higashino's 2002 novel of the same name, a story already filmed once as the 2003 feature G@me and remade for Chinese television in 2020. Kazuya Kamenashi stars as Shunsuke Sakuma, an award-winning advertising planner stripped of his biggest project on the orders of client Katsutoshi Katsuragi (Atsuro Watabe), the vice president of a major automaker; humiliated, Sakuma meets Katsuragi's estranged daughter Juri (Ai Mikami), who carries her own grudge against her father, and the two stage a fake kidnapping to extract a ransom and settle scores. Yusuke Hirayama plays Takeshi Kagaya, Sakuma's rival planner at the ad agency Cyber Plan, and Takashi Kobayashi plays Kozuka, the agency's president. Kosuke Suzuki directed from Hiroyuki Komine's screenplay, and WOWOW broadcast the series from June 9 to June 30, 2024. (WOWOW; Wikipedia)
