Simon Beaufoy created this FX limited series, executive produced by Danny Boyle, who directed the pilot, dramatizing the 1973 kidnapping of teenage heir John Paul Getty III (Harris Dickinson) by Calabrian mafia in Rome and the family dysfunction it exposes. Donald Sutherland plays his miserly billionaire grandfather J. Paul Getty, Hilary Swank plays the boy's mother Gail, and Brendan Fraser plays James Fletcher Chace, the retired CIA operative Getty sends to Italy to manage the crisis.
