PlatinumGames' action role-playing sequel to Nier (2010), directed by Yoko Taro and published by Square Enix for PlayStation 4 and Windows on March 7 and 17, 2017, later reaching Xbox One in 2018 and Nintendo Switch in 2022. Androids 2B and 9S fight a proxy war against Machine lifeforms on an Earth abandoned by humanity, with the story requiring multiple playthroughs that reveal new perspectives on the same events.
