NieR, the Western release of NieR Replicant

Cavia's action role-playing game, directed by Yoko Taro and produced by Takuya Iwasaki and Yosuke Saito for Square Enix, released in Japan on 22 April 2010 as NieR Replicant (PlayStation 3, younger protagonist) and NieR Gestalt (Xbox 360, older protagonist); the Gestalt version reached North America and Europe on both platforms as simply NieR in late April 2010. A spin-off of the Drakengard series set over a thousand years after its fifth ending, it follows the player-named protagonist and the swordswoman Kainé seeking a cure for a terminal illness afflicting the young Yonah, aided by the sentient talking book Grimoire Weiss. A remaster, NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139..., unified the story under the Replicant version worldwide on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows in April 2021, preceding the 2017 sequel NieR:Automata.
