Sega's Shenmue follows Ryo Hazuki through Yokosuka as he investigates his father's murder, using an unusually detailed daily routine and explorable city to turn detective work into lived time. The original Dreamcast release made that passage of time literal on Ryo's Timex; later ports changed licensed brands whose agreements had covered only the original platform. (Vandal)
