Antique Field Watch
More actions
An unidentified vintage field watch worn by Henry Cavill as Gus March-Phillipps in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024). The film's January 1942 setting constrains what "antique" can mean. British forces of that date carried A.T.P. (Army Trade Pattern) watches, roughly 31 mm with a silver or white dial, radium-filled indices, a small seconds subdial and a 15-jewel hand-wound movement; the black-dialled W.W.W. watches later nicknamed the Dirty Dozen belong to a 1945 specification and would be three years early for this raid (Time and Tide). What the frames show fits the earlier pattern, a small polished round case with a pale dial worn over the cuff, but the dial never turns toward camera, no dial text or caseback is legible, and the identification is open.
