Benrus 3061
More actions
The Benrus 3061 is a mid-century American manual-wind field watch: a roughly 34 mm steel case, black dial signed BENRUS with luminous Arabic numerals, and a seconds hand tipped in a red arrow. Its hacking Benrus DR 2F2 movement is a signed ETA 2372. It is the civilian, polished-case version of the matte military DTU-2A/P Benrus supplied to U.S. forces, and it retailed for around $50 when new, a fraction of the Swiss sports watches of the day. Unremarkable and inexpensive as sold, it became a collector's quarry through a single screen appearance: Steve McQueen wore it as Frank Bullitt in Bullitt, and Benrus has since reissued the reference on the strength of that association.
