Photo: Geo. Bouverat & Co. advertisement of 1962, scan by FM-Era Classics (representative: the advertisement draws the automatic reference 5254)
The Bernex Barracuda is the water-resistant range that Geo. Bouverat & Co. of Birmingham, the house behind the Swiss-made Bernex name, advertised in Britain in the early 1960s as "the new Barracuda range". A 1962 advertisement draws the 9ct gold automatic 5254 at £34 10s; Punch advertisements of 1963 picture the rolled-gold automatic 5307 and list manual and automatic models from the chrome 5266 at £8 1s upward. (1962 advertisement; Punch, 4 December 1963) Kirk Douglas wears a 17-jewel Barracuda with Arabic numerals and the model name in script in The Heroes of Telemark; no source ties it to one reference.
