Blancpain's Villeret Split-Seconds Chronograph runs Caliber 1186, launched in 1988 as the world's first self-winding split-seconds (rattrapante) chronograph movement and, at 6.75 mm thick, the thinnest automatic chronograph movement made for two decades afterward. Blancpain cased the 34 mm movement across several 18K gold and platinum references, typically with a silvered dial, applied Roman numerals, and three registers: a 12-hour totalizer, a 30-minute counter, and a small-seconds/date subdial.
