Chanel introduced the white ceramic J12 in 2003, three years after the original black version, using the same high-tech ceramic case and bracelet construction but in a white, ultra-hard formulation Chanel developed specifically for the line. The J12 takes its name and racing-yacht-inspired profile from the J-Class sailboats of the 1930s, and the white execution has been sold across quartz and automatic movements, multiple case sizes, and both plain and diamond-set dials, so no single reference describes the whole run.
