Chopard Happy Diamonds
More actions
The Chopard Happy Diamonds name covers Chopard's dancing-diamond watches and jewelry since 1976, when designer Ronald Kurowski sealed loose diamonds in bevelled-base capsules between two sapphire crystals so they spin freely with the wrist instead of sitting fixed; the first execution, a men's cushion-shaped watch with 30 dancing diamonds, won the Golden Rose of Baden-Baden that same year. Caroline Scheufele extended the idea into jewelry from 1985 and into new case shapes, sizes, and dial colors since, keeping the free-floating stones as the family's only constant. (Worldtempus; Chopard) It is a distinct line from the steel-sports Chopard Happy Sport, which borrowed the same dancing-diamond principle into a different case idiom from 1993.
