The Doxa SUB 300 is the 1967 dive watch that introduced several things at once: the bright orange dial, chosen because orange stays legible longest as depth filters out colour, and a unidirectional bezel carrying not just elapsed minutes but a second scale of US Navy no-decompression limits, so the diver could read a safe ascent off the watch itself. Rated to 300 metres and distributed in the United States through Jacques Cousteau's US Divers, it made the orange face a Doxa signature. Clive Cussler put one on his hero Dirk Pitt across the novels, and Doxa has since issued Pitt tribute editions. (Doxa) Doxa's current SUB 300 Professional continues the design today. (DOXA Watches)
