The Grand Seiko Heritage Collection SBGA373 revives the 44GS case Grand Seiko's own 1967 design office set as the template for its modern proportions, here in a 40 mm steel body with Zaratsu-polished facets and a radiant champagne dial. It runs the Spring Drive caliber 9R65, whose glide-motion seconds hand and 72-hour reserve (tracked at 8 o'clock alongside a hand-wound crown) come from the tri-synchro regulator, an electromagnetic brake that governs a mechanical mainspring to quartz-level accuracy of about +/-1 second a day rather than an escapement's ticking beat. Introduced in 2018, the reference has since given way to newer 44GS Spring Drive executions in Grand Seiko's Heritage Collection line. (WatchGecko)
